It is common Windows Problem considered as Windows Group Policy issue. If you are not aware, Group Policy is an account management utility in Windows that allows you predefine the terms of use and interaction of user accounts in a certain group. The group can be standard/limited group, guest group, administrators group, and any other group you have created. You are allowed to create policy to guide these groups. These group policies is so invoked during login in depending on which group the user belongs.

However, several users reported they faced Group Policy Client Service failed the sign in access is denied error on their Windows 10 computer when they attempt to login into Windows computer. This issue indicates you are unable to login into Windows computer and receive ‘Group Policy Client Service failed the sign in access is denied’ error after start/restart your computer. Method 2: Fix Group Policy Client Service failed the sign in access is denied error using Registry Editor

Step 1: Open ‘Registry Editor’ app in Windows PC via Windows Search Box and go to following path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\gpsvc

Step 2: Make sure that this key is intact but do not change anything and then go to following path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SVCHOST

Step 3: This is the most vital path you should look into, as it contains the keys and values referred in the key in ‘step 2’.

Step 4: There must be Multi-string value called ‘GPSvcGroup’. If missing, right-click in right pane and select ‘New > String’ and name the string to ‘GPSvcGroup’, double-click it to edit, set its value data to ‘GPSvc’

Step 5: You must create a key and name it ‘GPSvcGroup’. Or you can create it by right-click on right pane and select ‘New > Key’ and name the key to GPSvcGroup.

Step 6: Click the newly created key, right-click on empty space in right pane, and select ‘New > DOWRD (32-bit) value’ and name the value to ‘AuthenticationCapabilities’, set its value data to ‘0x00003020’ and save the changes

Step 7: Now, create value CoInitializeSecurityParam and it must have value of 1, and then restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 3: Take the ownership of group policy registry key and force the GPSVC to initiate as a separate process from the beginning rather than to act as shared process.

Step 1: Open ‘Registry Editor’ app in Windows PC and go to following path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\gpsvc

Step 2: Right-click ‘gpsvc’ key and select ‘Permissions’.

Step 3: Click ‘Change’ in the window that appears and click ‘Advanced’ in Select User or Group window and click ‘Find Now’

Step 4: Select your user name and hit ‘Ok’ button and click ‘Ok’ button in ‘Select user or group’ window as well.

Step 5: Once you successfully taken ownership of registry key, close registry editor, and right-click on ‘Start’ menu and select ‘Windows Powershell (Admin)’, and execute the following command.

reg add “HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\gpsvc” /v Type /t REG_DWORD /d 0x10 /f

Step 6: Once executed, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 4: Perform System Restore

Option 1: If you can login into system with another account

Step 1: Right-click on Start menu and choose ‘System’ and go to ‘System Protection’

Step 2: Click ‘System Restore’ button and click ‘Next’. You may need to check the box at bottom that says ‘Show more restore points’.

Step 3: Select a date/point in time before the issue occurred and restore your computer and once done, check if the issue is resolved.

Option 2: if you can’t log into system or you had only one account

Step 1: Press ‘SHIFT’ key and restart your computer and go to ‘Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore’

Step 2: Select a valid restore point and perform system restore in computer, and once updated, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 5: Reset Google Chrome

Step 1: Open ‘Settings’ app in Windows PC and go to ‘Apps > Apps & Features’

Step 2: Find and select ‘Google chrome’, and click ‘Advanced Options’ and click ‘Reset’ and confirm resetting and once finished, check if the issue is resolved.

Method 6: Turn OFF Fast Startup

Step 1: Open ‘Settings’ app and go to ‘System > Power and Sleep > Additional power settings’

Step 2: Click ‘Choose what the power buttons do’, scroll down to ‘Shutdown settings’, uncheck ‘Turn ON fast startup’ checkbox and save the changes. Once done, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 7: Restart Group Policy Client Service and restart Winsock

Step 1: Open ‘Services’ app in Windows PC via Windows Search Box

Step 2: Find and double-click ‘Group Policy Client Service’ to open its Properties. Select ‘Automatic’ from ‘Startup Type’ dropdown and hit ‘Start’ button under ‘Service Status’ section, and then hit ‘Apply > Ok’ button to save the changes

Step 3: Now, right-click ‘Start Menu’ and select ‘Windows Powershell (Admin)’ and execute the following command

.netsh winsock reset

Step 4: Once executed, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 8: Relogging in specific order

Step 1: Switch all the users so all three are logged in

Step 2: Now, log of each account in order

Step 3: Now, log into the first working account and then log into second working account. After all working accounts have been logged in, log into the problematic account and check if the issue is resolved.
